Where to Plant Lily of the ValleyΒ
With its delicate white bell-shaped flowers and strong scent, lily of the valley is a much-loved garden plant.
It is very important to pick the right spot when planting this perennial beauty.
It's best to plant Lilies of the Valley where they will get some to full shade, like under trees or along the north side of a house.
They like soil that drains well, has a lot of humus, and is slightly acidic (pH between 6.0 and 7.0).
Adding compost or peat moss to the soil can help get it to the right level of acidity.
Because their underground stems and leaves spread quickly, it's best to plant these plants where they won't be able to take over other plants.
You could also plant them in raised beds or containers to keep their growth in check.
If you plant and care for Lily of the Valley, it will bloom and smell great every spring.
